The Fake Village
Munidorf was a German ammunition and bomb depot during the occupation of Denmark – disguised as a fake village.
It served as a depot for Aalborg West Airfield, and was the only one in Denmark camouflaged as a village.
With painted doors and windows, it looked like a completely ordinary village from the air, not to be bombed by the Allied planes.
The bombers were transported between the airfield and Munidorf on a narrow-gauge railway built for this purpose.
The village was removed in 1946 and has since been more or less forgotten.
The visitor center is built next to a bunker a few hundred meters from where Munidorf was located.
Come and learn about the unique history and other stories from the occupation era, including the Support Point Aabybro, of which the bunker is a part.
On top of the bunker, there are information boards, and you can also enter the bunker and experience what it was like to be a German soldier on duty.
You can also hear a carpenter’s account of what it was like to help build Munidorf.
